Hope Heals: The story of Katherine and Jay Wolf

Hope Heals by Katherine and Jay WolfWhen at the age of 26, my friend Katherine Wolf suffered a massive brain stem stroke, her life took a drastic turn. For 40 days, Katherine was on life support in an ICU and she spent the following two years in a full-time brain rehab. I remember when Katherine shared with me about her first Thanksgiving out of the hospital: The kitchen and family room were filled with people laughing, feasting on turkey; others were carrying her baby. But Katherine — she sat in the corner, slumped in her wheelchair with her chin on her chest, unable to swallow, unable to laugh … just staring at it all. That’s when she thought to herself, “God must have made a mistake … I just can’t do it.” Friend, I cannot count the many times I have felt and said the same thing, given my own struggles with paralysis! And perhaps you have too. You had plans, dreams … and then you get hit by the unexpected and you think to yourself, “I can’t do this … it just won’t work.” If so, let me encourage you to read the raw and impossibly real story of Katherine and her husband Jay in their new book, “Hope Heals.” Because there is healing and strength in the hope of Jesus!
