Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and when I was a kid, I may not have understood the phrase “blood is thicker than water,” but I instinctively knew no one who could match the importance of my sisters. There’s something great about sharing the same genetics, the same roots, and history. I was reminded of this when I noticed a fascinating insight into the way Jesus thought of His followers. You see, all throughout His public ministry, Jesus called them His sheep, His disciples, His friends, His fellow servants and much more. But an incredible change occurred after the resurrection; He no longer referred to His disciples as friends... He called them His brothers. You and I are family. After Jesus paid the penalty for sin, we became His relatives. What do you know; blood is thicker than water. It’s one thing to be a friend, but oh the joy of being in the family of God.
