Whiter Than Snow

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I hope you had a blessed Christmas.

And starting today? Well, this week is going to have a slower pace, isn’t it, a little more relaxed, things can settle down now that the Christmas holidays have wound down; and before the new year starts, take a deep breath! Maybe there will be a chance this week to sit by a window and look out on the cold winter day. Maybe there is a light snow falling where you live, and sitting there by that window, it’ll be a quiet opportunity to reflect on the wondrous reality of the birth of Christ that we just celebrated. Think on that. Think on your Savior as you listen to these words, words I wrote to go with the tune of this wonderful hymn, “Whiter Than Snow”,

I sat by my window, one cold winter day
A light snow was falling, I started to pray
My spirit was humbled, my heart was laid low
I longed to be pure and white, just like the snow
Whiter than snow, whiter than snow
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
A Savior was born to bring freedom from sin.
The angels sang peace on earth, goodwill toward to men
O, spirit come fill me, I so long to grow
Please make my heart clean like the fresh fallen snow
Whiter than snow, whiter than snow
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus I long be perfectly whole
I want thee forever to live in my soul
Be full now in my heart, cast out every foe
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Whiter than snow, whiter than snow
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.

Friend, a new year is right around the corner so join me in thanking God that He makes everything beautiful in His time, everything whiter than snow.
