The Story of Sarah: A Child Abandoned by Her Family

In developing countries, 97% of children with disabilities will suffer neglect and abuse. This is the story of little Sarah. Born with a disability, Sarah is unable to care for herself. What’s worse is that Sarah’s parents do not have the heart to provide proper care for their daughter. Day after day, Sarah is locked in a garage, without food, water, or light. As her mother coldly put it, if she had someone to whom she could give Sarah—she would do it.

Friend, like Sarah there are thousands of children throughout the developing world who are abandoned and rejected by their families. The Bible commands us to be kind to the needy, to defend the cause of the poor, and to encourage the oppressed. It’s why our Global Missions and Internships ministry is reaching out to love and defend these children—and we invite you to join us. Take action today by watching this short video about Sarah and sharing it with others through Facebook or email. And if you’re interested in becoming a Joni and Friends Intern, click here.
