Aaron Virgil: From Active Snowboarder to Quadriplegic

By |Published On: January 6, 2014|Categories: News|

Aaron Virgil was an active young man. If he wasn’t hiking, he was driving down the coast on his bike; other times you might find him target shooting or working out. But his favorite sport? Snowboarding. It’s why when he obtained a new job position, Aaron knew snowboarding was the perfect way to celebrate. And so, he put on his gear and headed down the slopes. But that day Aaron lost control of a turn and collided with a tree, leaving him a ventilator-dependant, quadriplegic.

Life has greatly changed for Aaron—and for his family. (You can hear more about Aaron’s story through this short video.) Because when disability hits unexpectedly, it’s hard to adjust. What’s more, often times newly disabled men and women lose hope during this time of transition. But the Bible tells us there is hope. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Friend, you can share that promise with Aaron—and with other families who struggle with the day-to-day challenges of a disability. Think about encouraging a special needs family with a note, a card, maybe a favorite hymn, or even a gift card through “Heart for the Disabled” this Valentine’s Day. Want to know more?
