National Volunteer Week – Alice

Alice first heard about Joni and Friends in 2011 through Joni’s interview with Barbara Walters. And when she heard our president, Doug Mazza, speak at her church a week later, she felt God calling her to volunteer. She then decided to serve at a Family Retreat, and since then she has been faithfully serving the ministry weekly!

Alice serves alongside our Development department, assisting the team each week with filing and organizing. She also loves to be a part of blessing others and connecting with our friends of the ministry through writing personal thank you notes.

In all the years she’s volunteered with Joni and Friends, she’ll never forget the moment she shared with Doug that his talk at her church encouraged her to get involved with the ministry. His response touched her deeply – “You are the reason I was there that day.” Doug shared that he truly believes God used him to bring Alice to the ministry, and she is so grateful.

Alice says that the ministry is a blessing to her, and she loves being a part of the Joni and Friends family. And when we asked her what motivates her to continue serving with us, she shared:

“We volunteers get to see firsthand all the miracles God has worked in Joni’s life! We see how He has used her to bring hope, joy, and Jesus to everyone that her life has touched over 50 years of ministry! She always comes in singing praises to the Lord. What a blessing to be a volunteer at Joni and Friends and serve God through thank you letters!”

Thank you, Alice, we’re so thankful for your faithful service at Joni and Friends! If you’d like to send Alice a note of appreciation, be sure to leave a comment below.
