“You are Truly the Friends of God!”

a boy in ghana sitting in his new wheelchairIn developing nations like Ghana, West Africa, little children with disabilities are outcast… denied the opportunities other children enjoy. Kennedy was abandoned by his father when he was born with cerebral palsy. Yet his mother Angelica held onto her faith in Jesus Christ to provide all they need. Like any mother, she has worried about her son’s future. Will he be able to go to school? Will he learn and grow? How will she carry him all the days of his life? But God’s unfailing kindness, shown through you, has answered the cries of Angelica’s heart. On a recent Wheels for the World outreach to Ghana, Kennedy received his first wheelchair – and not just any wheelchair! A one of a kind, pediatric wheelchair uniquely prepared for him by our therapists. Sitting up in his bright blue wheelchair, God’s plan began to unfold for Kennedy. “He will go to school now!” Angelica cried. “And I can push him to church where we will both learn more about God! Today God has provided for us! You are truly the friends of God and the friends of people others turn away from. In your eyes we see only love.” This is the love that you demonstrate to disabled children and adults like Kennedy – you display the Gospel in the most real way possible. Do you know someone with an unused wheelchair? Check back next week for information about collecting wheelchairs in your community to bring the gift of mobility to someone like Kennedy!
