Dear Future Mom… Life with Down Syndrome

When an expectant mother hears the words “Your child may have Down syndrome,” her heart and mind are flooded with thoughts and emotions … Thoughts such as, “Will my child live?” or “How are we going to care for a special needs child?” But the one question just about any expectant mother of a child with Down syndrome will ask is, “What kind of life will my child have?” Clouded by fears of the unknown, cultural stigma, and family pressures, many mothers struggle to make sense of such a difficult diagnosis. But who better to answer the question of quality of life than those who know this condition best — children and young adults with Down syndrome. You can watch their response in this heartening video titled “Dear Future Mom.” It’s a reminder that children with Down syndrome can make their parents proud, love their moms and dads, and have fun like other kids do! So share it with your friends on Facebook or Pinterest!
