Celebrating St. Patrick

The way people celebrate St. Patrick’s Day nowadays has virtually nothing to do with honoring the remarkable Christian missionary who, hundreds of years ago, took the Gospel of Christ to Ireland! Patrick was born into a wealthy family in Britain around the year 387. At the time, pirates from...

“I Could Never Have Imagined…”

From the Heart - Wheels for the WorldWhen I was in Africa, I saw a young woman with polio '"crawling" across a street on her hands, dragging her paralyzed legs behind her. As I watched her weave her way across the busy road, I was breathless. What if a car doesn’t see her? How will her legs survive the constant battering? Doesn’t anyone care?

But then she came to our Wheels for the World outreach – tears welled in my eyes as she happily received a wheelchair, the Bible, plus a Joni book (just like this African girl in the photo). She also received Jesus as her Savior. Immediately, we were kindred spirits… true sisters in Christ. But the need is so great… there’s so many others like her...

A Hard Path to JoyThe path to joy is full of pitfalls, valleys and steep climbs. That’s the way it was for Jesus. But through all the hardships, He kept focused on “the joy set before Him.” Jesus was able to endure His cross because He kept in mind the joy of reunion with...

International Wheelchair Day

International Wheelchair DayEvery year, our Wheels for the World teams travel around the globe providing wheelchairs to hundreds of people in need with disabilities — people like little 6-year-old Victoria and her mother Regina from Ghana, West Africa. As a single mother, Regina had to lift Victoria onto her back to head to the local roadside stand where she sells sell salt, onions, and peppers. Barely able to make ends meet, Regina couldn’t afford a wheelchair for her daughter. Still, this mother clung to the promise of Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous… He will never leave you...

From the Heart - Your Daily Devotional for 2018

A Spectacle of GloryAs time passes, followers of Jesus move in two directions at the same time. 2 Corinthians 4:16 affirms, “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” Do you see the two directions? On one hand, our...
